Our oprthopedic specialization

From knee endoprostheses to osteoarthritis and replacement of prostheses, we offer a wide range of orthopedic procedures.

Knee Endoprothesis

Knee replacement surgery replaces parts of injured or worn-out knee joints.

Knee Osteoarthritis

Treatment might include nonsurgical treatments, injections and surgery. Typically, healthcare providers try non-surgical treatments before recommending surgery.

Exchange operations

Knee Endoprothesis

Knee arthroplasty means replacing the knee joint in the event of advanced osteoarthritis of all parts of the knee joint. The knee joint is one of the most complicated joints due to its anatomical structure and its ligament- and tendon-guided movement sequences. Therefore, the choice of knee joint implant is crucial for the outcome after surgery. Depending on the extent of the wear and tear, various care options are available, which we will select individually for you.

The operation is performed under general anesthesia or with spinal cord anesthesia. Subsequent physiotherapy is also very important for the success of the operation; it promotes the patient’s mobility and muscle building.

Knee Osteoarthritis

If you have knee osteoarthritis, the different structures that make up your knee joint will have been damaged over time. You lose some of the cartilage that normally allows your bones to move against each other. The shape of your bones can change too, and they may develop bony growths, called osteophytes (bone spurs). The membranes that line your knee joint can also become inflamed. These changes affect how well your knee works and can lead to symptoms such as pain and stiffness.

Exchange operations

Another focus is the performance of replacement operations. Although the service life of hip and knee endoprostheses is becoming longer and longer, they do not last forever. Accidents or injuries can also lead to premature wear or even breakage of the implant.

When replacing entire artificial joints or parts of them, the loss of bone substance that usually occurs at the same time must be taken into account, which is why, in addition to conventional prostheses, special modular prostheses are also used, which can be individually adapted to the respective situation during the operation.
